Battery storage and microgrids
Get paid to host a battery on your property.
It works a lot like leasing space for a cell tower. In qualifying markets, a commercial battery program installs a battery on your site at no cost to you, and you earn thousands of dollars a year for hosting it. You provide the space and the connection. The program covers the battery, installation, permits, insurance and maintenance.
Battery hosting
How hosting works.
- 01
Send one electric bill
Engineering reviews your demand and tells you how many battery blocks your site can host.
- 02
Review your proposal
A short call walks you through battery size, estimated annual hosting payment and your options.
- 03
Site survey and approval
Photos of your meter, electrical service and proposed battery location, then engineering approval.
- 04
Installation
The program handles permitting and installation. You keep running your business.
Your choice
Choose how your battery works for you.
Savings
The battery is run to earn the most from the grid, which gives you the highest hosting payment.
Resilience
The battery keeps backup power ready for an outage, so refrigeration stays cold, registers stay on and production keeps moving. The hosting payment is lower in exchange for that backup.
Either way, the battery can also trim your monthly peak, which lowers your demand charges.
Battery hosting
Who it fits.
Strong candidates usually have:
Requirements vary by market.
- About 80 kW or more of peak demand (roughly a $2,500 or higher monthly electric bill)
- Three-phase power
- Outdoor space about the size of a parking stall for each battery block
Hosting programs are open in select U.S. markets now, and coming to Canada. Send us your bill and we will tell you whether your site qualifies today or when a program opens in your area.

Own your storage.
For sites outside hosting markets, including oilfield, remote and critical sites.
Battery storage
A large battery system on your site, usually outdoors in a cabinet or container. It charges when power is cheap or plentiful and discharges when you need it.
Microgrid
Your battery, any on-site generation and a controller working together. During an outage it separates from the grid and keeps your critical loads powered.
Peak demand
Your single highest stretch of power use in a billing period. Many commercial rates charge for it separately from the energy you use.
Free bill review

One recent electric bill is enough to start. Add a water bill if you have one.
